#Brainsight
Ten questions, ten seconds each, six categories. A run takes two or three minutes, so it fits between two meetings — and Multiplayer takes about the same, with everyone answering the same questions at the same time.
#Controls
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
| 1 – 4 | Lock in that answer |
| Click / tap | The same thing |
Once you pick an answer it locks. You can't change it, and you don't find out whether you were right until the reveal — the correct answer isn't sent to your browser before then, so nobody can peek.
#The six categories
| Category | Covers | |
|---|---|---|
| 🎮 | Gaming | Video games, board games |
| 🎬 | Entertainment | Film, TV, animation, stage |
| 🔬 | Science & Tech | Nature, computers, maths, gadgets |
| 🌎 | World | Geography, history, mythology |
| 🎨 | Culture | Books, art, music, famous faces |
| ❓ | Wildcard | General knowledge, animals, sport, whatever else |
#Scoring
| Worth | |
|---|---|
| Correct answer | 1,000 |
| Speed bonus | 0 – 400 |
| Streak bonus | 0 – 300 |
| Wrong, or out of time | 0 — and your streak resets |
The streak bonus is +100 for your second correct answer in a row, +200 for the third, and +300 for the fourth and everything after.
Speed is scored in broad bands rather than to the millisecond, and being fast is worth less than half a correct answer. Knowing six answers slowly beats guessing ten quickly, and a slower connection can't cost you a match.
#Solo
Pick Mixed for questions from all six categories, or one category for all ten. Difficulty is optional — leave it on Mixed unless you want a specific challenge.
Your results screen shows your score, how many you got right, your best streak, your position on the leaderboard, and any achievements the run unlocked.
#Multiplayer
Two to eight players. Everyone gets the same questions, in the same answer order, on the same clock.
- Create game gives you a room code like
BRAIN-X7K2. Copy the invite link, or use Invite a player to send it through the arcade's notification bell. - Join game takes a code from someone else.
- Quick play drops you in with whoever else is waiting.
The host sets the number of questions (10, 15 or 20), the categories and the difficulty, then starts once at least two people are in.
#Last place picks
After every round, whoever is bottom of the table chooses the next category from three options, with about five seconds to decide. It's a comeback mechanic: being behind means steering the game toward what you know. Don't choose in time and the game chooses for you.
#If you drop out
Refresh, close the tab, lose your wifi — reopen the room and you're back where you were, with your score intact. Any question that finished while you were away counts as unanswered. You can't reconnect to re-answer something you already locked in.
#Daily Brainsight
One set of ten questions per day, identical for everyone in the company, one scored attempt each. Good for a shared argument at standup.
#Achievements
Eight of them, worth 770 GS in total, from First Thought (play one game) to Brainsight Champion (win ten multiplayer matches). They're awarded from the server's own record of your games, so they can't be missed and can't be farmed.

#Where the questions come from
Questions are pulled from Open Trivia DB, cached by the arcade, and picked to avoid ones you've seen recently — in multiplayer, ones anyone at the table has seen recently. Occasionally a question will still repeat once the pool has been through everyone; the pool grows as people play.
If you ever see "Brainsight is recalibrating", the question pool is briefly too thin to start a game. Wait a moment and launch it again.
